Get Baked.

THIS IS TONIGHT! Short notice, I know, but I swear I'm always the last person to hear about everything. MV & EE kind of put me to sleep the last time I saw them, but Jana Hunter is highly endorsed. Hit up the Autonomous Battleship Collective site for more information if digital flyers don't do the trick for you.

Hook, Line, and Sinker

If you were to tell me that there's a fishing show hosted by Dean Ween featuring Gibby Haynes of the Butthole Surfers as a guest, I would say, "You know what- that sounds extremely plausible."

And so it is

This will give Tom Waits putting a fish in his trousers a run for its money.

All the more reason to go to the show tonight: Mystery Train is in the middle of a big 50% sale in preparation for their move at the end of the month. Buy tons of records, kick out the jams.

Days Late

If there's one thing that is an absolute motivation killer, it's precipitation. One of my favorite things to keep my chin up is putting on the Vaselines The Way of the Vaselines: A Complete History. It's a guarantee that I'll be feeling a lot better by the time "Son of a Gun" is over. I can now add Sonic Chicken 4's self-titled to that very exclusive pantheon. Their debut album came out last November on the always amazing In the Red records, but it wasn't until I threatened King Khan's life for promos from the label that I had heard it. File this under more great albums that came out last year and not this year. Obligatory video follows.

More Sludge Than The LaBrea Tarpits.

I'm not completely sold on the new Melvins album yet, maybe because I keep waiting to be pummeled into oblivion Houdini-style & it's just not happening. I am, however, very stoked on this show - Big Business are honestly doing the Melvins way better than the Melvins have for awhile. Dust off those Karp records & get into it, people.

Waits Wednesday Revived.

It's been awhile since we've had a Waits Wednesday around here, so let's change that, shall we?
